The 12 Days of Christmas #6: “Redneck” from Lamb Of God at Download 2012!

The festivity of the twelve days of Christmas runs from 25th December to 5th January, based on an English Christmas Carol that sees a lover give gifts cumulatively over the Christmas season starting with Christmas Day. Originally published in 1780, it’s probably French in origin, Skull Island has been conquered many times in it’s rich heritage. So for the twelve days, we’re doing twelve Metal tracks that have something to do with the item. We’ve survived this far. How much worse could it possibly get?!

“On the sixth day of Christmas my true love gave to me Six geese-laying, Five gold rings, Four calling birds, Three French hens, Two turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree”

Six years ago was 2013. A mixed bag of events that saw The Good, The Bad and The Ugly on Planet Metal. Metallica released 3D Movie “Through The Never” which was all of those things in one. Deftones bassist Chi Cheng passed away following compilations from a 2008 car accident. Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman passed away from Liver failure and Eighteen Visions bassist Mick Morris also left us due to a pre-existing heart condition. Joey Jordison left Slipknot, Crowbar mastermind Kirk Windstein left supergroup Down and Tim Lambesis of As I Lay Dying… You know all about that one. But it wasn’t all Doom and Gloom. Brian “Head” Welsh rejoined KoRn after 8 years in the wilderness and Randy Blythe of Lamb of God was acquitted of Manslaughter a in the Czech Republic after the death of a fan in 2010. So we’ve gone with “Redneck” performed by the band at Download Festival 2012. Absolute class.
