Rabidfest 2024: Breaking Down The Bands #4: Fury!
If you were lucky enough to be at Catton Park in Derbyshire this past weekend for Bloodstock Open Air Festival then you should have seen the twenty foot high Rabidfest poster on the billboard alongside ones for tours from Pantera and Sepultura and the 70,000 tonnes of Metal cruise! Seeing that was a special moment and if you didn’t and you want to see the pictures, head on over to the Rabidfest social medias. What is Rabidfest you ask?! It’s Oxfords biggest Metal Weekender, taking place at The Bullingdon on 2nd and 3rd November. Twenty bands will take it in turns to put your ear defenders to the test, so here’s the line up in full…

In the wrong hands self description can be as dangerous as a hand grenade minus the pin and in the age of social media, more so than ever. But what is life without risk? As boring as watching the same episode of Friends fifty seven times with nothing but alcohol free beer for company. Preparing themselves for the Devolution Magazine sponsored main stage at the sixth incarnation of Rabidfest are a band who describe themselves as “The most exciting band… on the planet!”. That band are Fury.
In all fairness to the West Midlands Heavy Metal crew who share a mutual love of Iron Maiden and Metallica, they have been on the European circuit for a while now, 2024 seeing them play Osteguna Rock Fest in Spain, Urrock Festival in Switzerland and club shows in Germany. Entertaining the masses with the soulful voice of Julian Jenkins alongside a plethora of classic riffs since their debut self titled EP in 2011, they’ve earned the right with four well received full length albums and a live record to boot. Essential listening? We recommend “Burnout” from 2020’s “The Grand Prize“, followed by the title track of 2016’s “Lost In Space” before completing your three course Metal Meal (trademark, patient applied for) with “If You Get To Hell First” from 2022’s “Born In Sin“. Incidentally, do you get more Metal than putting a Demon biker flying out of a river of Lava in your album cover?!
We’re proud to be a Media Partner of Rabidfest again this year alongside Red Death Media, Moomin Merchandise, Metalplanetmusic, Moshville Times, GraphicsFix, TwoFace Promotions, Blackstar Amplification, DC Sound Attack and main stage sponsor Devolution Magazine. The Festival is all for charity and this year the profits will be going to the The Sophie Lancaster Foundation!
