Rabidfest 2024: Breaking Down The Bands #15: Dead Man’s Pistol!

Last week saw the day splits announced for this years sixth incarnation of Rabidfest so if you have other commitments (washing your hair, looking after your sisters brats, dancing with the devil) you have the opportunity to see who is playing when and turn up to a single day of Oxfords biggest Metal Weekender. Not that we recommend it because one glance at the line up will tell you that, like Aerosmith you don’t want to miss a thing. Rabidfest will take place at The Bullingdon in Oxford over the weekend of 2nd & 3rd November. Here’s the line up in full…

Saturday 2nd November:

Evile (Headliner)
Cloven Hoof
Fury
Damaged Reich
Eschalon
Existentialist
Imperium
40000 Leagues
Dead Man’s Pistol
Rats Eat Rats

Sunday 3rd November:

Viscera (Headliner)
Forlorn
Ocean Planet
Recall The Remains
Voidwalker
Draconian Reign
As The World Dies
From Her Ashes
Theorist
Halfway Home

…and if you fancy the aforementioned pre-show, you can witness Seething Akira, Crostpaths, The Crushing and Eliminate The Middle Class at “The Night Before Rabidfest” warm up at The Jericho Tavern in Oxford on Friday 1st November!

Not to be confused with “Dead Man Walking” by Bloodsimple, Dead Man’s Fingers spiced Rum or anything that you might find in the world of the Pirates Of The Caribbean, Dead Man’s Pistol self describe as a quirky and energetic Metal band who aren’t afraid of the dark. In truth, having formed in 2023, a cocktail of Black ‘n Roll, Thrash and Melodic Death Metal makes up their sound and while they have a live video for “Living With The Animals” on YouTube, they are yet to commit anything to tape. That’s largely because the Winchester based operatives have been two busy at the grindstone playing shows, burning venues down with Terraborn, Averted and Once Awake to name but a few. Naturally The Railway Inn has been a regular haunt but those who frequent the Jericho Tavern in Oxford may have witnessed them reach the semi finals of this years Metal 2 The Masses competition. They missed out on the opportunity to play the New Blood stage at Bloodstock Open Air Festival as they were ousted by eventual winners Stone Soup and there is no shame in that.

We’re proud to be a Media Partner of Rabidfest again this year alongside Red Death Media, Moomin Merchandise, Metalplanetmusic, Moshville Times, GraphicsFix, TwoFace Promotions, Blackstar Amplification, DC Sound Attack and main stage sponsor. Devolution Magazine. The Festival is all for charity and this year the profits will be going to the The Sophie Lancaster Foundation!
