Vs. Tuesday: One Song! Two Bands! Who Wins? Fight! “5 Minutes Alone” by Pantera (Round #1)

There are few Pantera songs that aren’t considered classics when it comes to Metal. The Arlington, Texas band are hailed by almost everyone and the creators of the groove metal sound. “5 Minutes Alone” from the bands “Far Beyond Driven” has been done a few times by a few bands but today we’re going with a pair of stand outs. In the Blue Corner we have fellow Texans Upon A Burning Body, who’s progression from crossover Deathcore to the heavy end of Metalcore in the same vein as Attila has brought both fans and critics to the plate. UABB’s version of the song is one of the heaviest around, showcasing the Pantera song while also showcasing their own sound.

And in the Red corner? Fort Lauderdale, Florida Alternative Metal veterans Nonpoint. Taken from the bands album “Miracle”, which was produced by Mudvayne singer Chad Gray and guitarist Greg Tribbett, who were both in Hellyeah with Pantera Drummer Vinnie Paul, their version still packs a punch but dials it back and closer to the original. Who wins? You decide.
