The Black Map #10: Continents from Cardiff!

Kerrang! magazine once described Continents sound as “Energy-fuelled epic-core with lots of aggression, a healthy blend of raw shouts and low end growls and foot stomping hooks. Their music and intense stage presence has separated them from the ever-growing UK Metal/Hardcore scene”. Getting heads banging since 2010, Cardiff’s Continents have had one hell of a ride so far. Having been picked up by at the time legendary Victory Records label, renowned for signing up and coming bands in the hardcore genre or heavier bands with hardcore leanings was fantastic for the band. The Chicago based label whose slogan “Another Victory” had been home to the likes of Emmure, Terror, Hatebreed & Ringworm to name but a few and allowed the band the option to tour with said bands.

Frontman Phil Cross’s fiery vocals set on fire by the quintets dual axe attack and pounding rhythms had helped them build a glowing reputation.  Then, after a pair of brilliant albums in 2013’s “Idle Hands”, which saw big single “Pegasus, Pegasus” featuring Paul Williams of Desolated  and 2015’s “Reprisal”, the band stepped away from their Victory deal to go it alone. And then came stunning single “Preacher” and a UK tour as direct support for The Word Alive in February, proving to any naysayers that the band still have what it takes to crush the opposition. The band are currently working on a follow up to “Reprisal” and further, more sporadic tour dates are expected this year.
