The Black Map #30: Sworn Amongst from Kingston Upon Hull!

Heading 154 miles North of London to Kingston Upon Hull, we continue our journey across the Black Map of the UK Metal scene. Hull is famous for being quite the sporting hotbed with Rugby, Football and even Ice Hockey teams creating a fine cultural heritage. Also the home of pioneering industrial band Throbbing Gristle and a highly reputable University. Formed in 2004 are a band who just want to tour and drink and were once described by Metal Hammer Magazine as “Coming out of Hull with an army of destructive riffs and a ton of scowling brutality” are Sworn Amongst. Signed to Artery Global Management and having toured across Europe with everyone from Cannibal Corpse to While She Sleeps, the band have a glowing reputation for dropping some serious Metal, splicing thrashier tones with some tech influences. If 2017 single “The Cleansing” is very much the shape of things to come with the bands sporadic recent shows, we hope they’re recording some new material as they are a fine, fine example of what UK Metal is all about! On and if you’ve heard Metal Hammer Magazine’s Tribute to Avenged Sevenfold, “Hail to the Kings”, you can find a version of “Second Heartbeat” as played by Sworn Amongst!
