Vs. Tuesday: Two Bands! One Song! Who Wins?! FIGHT. SNAP Edition.

In 1990 Snap! dropped their then 3rd single “The Power” and scored a huge hit. The German Eurodance group were fronted by rapper Turbo B and Penny Ford alongside producers Michael Münzing and Luca Anzilotti and the successful version was an entirely re-recorded one following a legal dispute about unauthorized samples. “King of the Beats Lesson #1” by Mantronix, “Let The Words Flow” by Chill Rob G and “Love’s Gonna Get You” by Jocelyn Brown were all used in the original take.

There is no such drama with the cover versions of the track though. Leo Moracchioli from Frog Leap Studios in Norway brings out the puppets in his video for a recently released Metal version of the track. Turbo B also reprised his role in the song taking turns to rap lyrics with Dave Gappa H-Blockx‘s then frontman in their 2002 cover of the track at what is widely considered to be the end of Nu-Metal era. Who wins? You decide!
