Vs. Tuesday: Two Bands! One Song! Who Wins? FIGHT! Iowanise Edition.
For us at least, “Iowa” by Slipknot remains still the bands second best offering behind their self titled debut. It’s an album that surprised a few with its less rap scream rant approach to vocals from Corey Taylor and some all out sung clean vocals in the vein of hit single “Wait And Bleed” which frustrated some but left others in awe of exactly what the band are capable of. A dark and brooding heavy release, it remains unsurpassed by the band as a complete sounding album with more recent releases tending to be more Knot Stone or Slip Sour with reference of course to Corey Taylor’s other band Stone Sour. That’s our opinion anyway and we’re sticking to it. Feel free to express your own. So for today’s head to head, we have a pair of bands who have paid tribute to one of the albums Moshpit anthems in “People=Sh*t”.
In the Red corner, we have a female fronted Progressive Metal quintet Divitius from Portland, Oregon who released their debut album “The Arcadian Parallel” on May 26, 2017 and covered this tune the following January. It’s great to get Alicen’s take on the vocals!
And in the Blue corner? Well now, as if you hadn’t already guessed it, Hunter Madison gets his chance to spit his unique blend of vocal phrasing over this class with Hunt The Dinosaur! No stranger to the cover song, the Dallas Texas crew switch up the gear of their Progressive Deathcore beast for this one! Who wins? You decide!
