Vs Tuesday: Two Bands! One Song! Who Wins? FIGHT! A-ha.

The 80’s pop cover was turned into a staple of the Nu-Metal era with almost every band landing at least one, Dope with “You Spin Me Right Round” by Dead or Alive, Disturbed with “Shout” by Fears For Fears and of course Limp Bizkit with “Faith” by George Michael to name but three. One classic 80s song to get a Metal makeover has been “Take On Me” by A-ha. Reel Big Fish did a punked up version of the track with that classic pencil sketch video…

In the Red corner and with more than a tinge of sadness we have Posehn. That’s the moniker Comedian, actor and  musician Brian Posehn has chosen for his band, who will be releasing “Grandpa Metal“, a tongue firmly in cheek comedy Metal album in February. Why sadness? Well their cover of the song sees Huntress frontwoman Jill Janus, who tragically took her own life back in August 2018 appear as a guest alongside Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian, Testament vocalist Chuck Billy and Exodus frontman Steve “Zetro” Souza. In the Blue corner we have a personal favourite. German Deftones inspired Metallers Emil Bulls landed their version as a shot across the bows on 2001’s “Angel Delivery Service“. It’s a classic Nu-Metal album and the first of nine studio albums from them. Who wins? You decide!
