Vs Tuesday: Two Bands! One Song! Who Wins? FIGHT! Tone Def?

After a couple of weeks of wandering in the wilderness it’s time to return to some Deftones for this week’s head to head. Perhaps not as universally critically acclaimed as it’s predecessors, the Sacramento Californian Alternative Metallers self titled fourth studio album may have some of the bands heaviest work on it up to its 2003 release – but – also introduced a sub-genre called Shoegaze into the bands sound with “Minerva“. Perhaps a surprise choice for a lead single, it flew in the face of the record executives who wanted a hit and added “Back To School” to the bands previous album “White Pony” to push sales.

In the Red corner we have Choir Noir who signed up James Bragg at Middle Farm Studios (Toska, No Worth Of Man) to carry out the Production and Engineering while the video was filmed in The Crypt by Ant Thornton. In the Blue corner there can only be one. From their compilation album “Alternative Endings“, Fightstar did their take on the track with the aid of a drum machine acoustically. Who Wins? You decide!
