The Black Map #109: H8teball from Kirckaldy, Fife, Scotland!
It’s been a little while since we talked about a band from north of the border so it’s time to put H8teball on our Black Map of the UK Underground Metal scene. These masked men roll up in your neighborhood with a hybrid theory of Thrash and Death Metal riffs from their native Kirkcaldy (near Fife) in Scotland and decimate the place with cuts from their EP “Undead“. The quintet formed back in 2017 but were forced to put the breaks on their plan for international mayhem until they could find a new vocalist and drummer. Battling back with not only this new EP but also putting a sythe to the opposition to get to the Scottish Finals of the very high caliber “Metal 2 the Masses” event to try and earn a slot on the New Blood Stage at the 20th Anniversary of Bloodstock.
Guitarist and original member Scot Duff comments: “The two tracks “Undead” and “Black Mamba” had already been included in a previous EP three years ago. After two members departed, we started the band again with two new brothers and we entered the studio to re-record everything from scratch with our new drummer Liam McDaid, while the new vocalist Daniel Shannon wrote new lyrics. Nearly two years later the result is the “Undead” EP”.
Vocalist Daniel Shannon added: “H8teball does not hate anything except hate itself. The lyrics are written about things in this world that bring people down, and that life is meant to be lived in an easier, better, and happier way. With the lyrics of the “Undead” EP we aimed to motivate or enlighten people without being preachy and depressing but instead through fun and passion.”
