Vs Tuesday: Two Bands! One Song! Who Wins? FIGHT! Cooper!
Featuring the trademark “ki-ki-ki ma-ma-ma” sound effect often misheard as “ch-ch-ch, ha-ha-ha” of Friday 13th (wonder if that’s where Disturbed got the idea?) there can be no mistaking the 1986 Alice Cooper classic “He’s Back (The Man Behind The Mask)“. An ode to Jason Voorhees that served as the lead single on the Jason Lives soundtrack, the sixth film in the Slasher classic franchise as well as the lead single from his album “Constrictor”.
In the Red Corner we have Josh Dummer’s Buried Realm who created a strictly Melodic Death Metal version of the Alice Cooper classic inspired by the Gothenburg scene greats and included it on their recently released third studio album, which is not only oozes class but also has a stellar set of guest musicians including former Arch Enemy and current Dark Tranquillity guitarist Christopher Amott. In the Blue Corner we have Swedish Death Thrash act One Man Army And The Undead Quartet who recorded their rendition for “Error In Evolution” and brought Scar Symmetry vocalist Christian Älvestam on board for a guest appearance back in 2007. That was their second album with Nuclear Blast before they called it a night in 2012 after an eight year reign of terror. Who wins? You decide!
