The Black Map #235: Wall from Oxford
Idle hands are the devil’s workshop so what do you do when you’re already in two bands who regularly tour not only the United Kingdom but also Europe and love a Festival appearance but you’re bored in doors, chained to the radiator due to a plague sweeping the Globe? Well to prevent yourself from losing your mind and going feral, you pick up your instrument and you start writing.
That’s exactly the two Princess that are Oxford Royalty in twins Ryan Cole (guitars) and Elliot Cole (drums) did to help the time pass and ease their minds and the result was an instrumental record for worshippers of the riff. Combining Sludge, Stoner and Doom Metal vibes, the pair known for their roles in both Desert Storm and The Grand Mal hammered out two EPs six months apart in 2021 which raise the bar for heavy two piece outfits. It’s the kind of music that you want to hear when you walk into a Biker Pub with obvious influences that finds the brothers wearing their hearts on their collective sleeves. As of that wasn’t enough, the duo took the material live earlier this year with sets in support of Will Haven and at Rabidfest. When you’re hot, you’re hot.
