Exclusive Interview: My Latest Failure talk Camden Rocks, Socks On Records and Failures Vol. 3!

Ahead of their headlining set at the Camden Rocks Presents All Dayer at The Fiddler’s Elbow on Saturday 29th April when they will be taking to the stage alongside Cosmoths, Broken Calling, Worship The Sacrifice, Octrain, Blue Eyed Giants, Leoni Jane Kennedy, Calvaria, Nether Sun, Kodama, 10 Gauge and Solatia, frontman and guitarist Chris Underhill from Hardcore injected Punk trio My Latest Failure gave us an update on their World in this exclusive interview…

How are the preparations coming along for your headlining set at the Camden Rocks Presents All Dayer? Have you told your Mum you’re staying out late and bought shares in Red Bull? Haven’t told my Mum anything. I’m planning on sneaking out through the window using my bedsheets as a ladder, haha. It’s going to be a late one and I’m sure there will be plenty “caffeine givers” drunk for sure.

Preparations have been good, there is a lot of buzz around this show and we can’t wait to take the stage. We’ve been in the studio brushing up on our setlist and we have also been working some new songs and a couple of of them have made the setlist, that’s right new MLF on the setlist! WTF!! Two of them will be squeezed I between Disappointment and It’s Complicated

With 10 other bands on the bill that you’ve not yet shared a stage with, who are you looking forward to checking out on the day? Line up is insane, so many brilliant bands on the bill. For me I’m looking forward to seeing all of the bands, in particular Blue Eyed Giants, Broken Calling and Worship The Sacrifice. What I love about shows like this is discovering new bands and music. Could easily come out of it with a new favourite band, it genuinely wouldn’t be the first time. All I know is It’s going to be a hell of a show, one not to be missed

How have you found your new rehearsal space at Amersham Music Studios? How does it stack up compared to the old place at Airplane Studios? Can we expect any live from the studio cuts appearing on YouTube any time soon? It’s completely different to Airplay, I really couldn’t compare it. I had so much love for Airplay Studios and I’m still gutted that it closed down. I’m not crying, just got something in my eye…

Amersham Music Studios is a great little place. We’ve been going there since the beginning of the year, the owner is a great guy and we have made it our new home. In terms of live studio clips… I’m sure there will be plenty of footage in the near future.

Rumour has it that a third EP cunningly titled “Failures Vol 3” is in the works? What can you tell us on that score? In progress. Now that we are getting back into the studio regularly we are starting to piece together Failures Vol:3. It’s definitely happening, but like I said it’s a work in progress at the moment.

One of the new songs, “Had Enough” has been on our setlist for the last year and we have had a good reception to it. It’s your classic MLF, just over a minute punch in the face. We will be playing “Had Enough” at the Camden Rocks all dayer and it will be the first time that we will play new songs “Vultures” and “No Hope”. In the studio we are currently calling them Part 1 and Part 2. You’ll understand once you’ve heard them next week. I’m confident that the new songs will go down well.

Still have a couple of tracks to nail down before we get serious, maybe the long awaited collaboration with Al from Weaponry? Who knows

Following the well received stand alone single “Bad Dreams“, how long do we have to wait for the rarities compilation album? Rarities? To be fair we do have alternative versions of Bad Dreams, Lies and Disappointment so could be possible. Haha. Let’s get Vol:3 out the way first

You have joined Prank Monkey Records finest Muscle Vest and your best friends We Punch Tigers for a Socks On Records compilation that has 23 bands fighting to make their presence felt AND the label have put you on in support of Janus Stark in Peterborough on 10th June. How did you swing that one?.Brilliant line up isn’t it? super buzzed to be playing alongside Muscle Vest and Janus Stark. I contacted Socks On Records about playing at one of their shows in Peterborough, really want MLF to start playing shows further afield in the summer and the lovely people in Socks On Records put us on this one. Really exciting stuff! Not only did they put us on but also put us on their Socks On Records + Friends Vol 2 compilation! Serious legends.

For the compilation I decided to dig out an unreleased version of Disappointment. It’s must have been good because Dal from We Punch Tigers messaged me the day after the compilation was released to tell me it was better than the original. Haha. The compilation has so many awesome bands in the scene and is definitely worth checking out
