Brad Mader comments: “This is a cover song of Judas Priest Hellion / Electric eye for my best friend Chris Gilson who passed away on May 31st 2020. Without Chris’s friendship, love & support, as well as the Gilson family, I would not be the person I am today and I owe everything to Chris. (Short story) We met in jr. high but became best friends in our freshman year of high school. We had a couple classes together & That year, Judas Priest went on tour for the defenders of the faith album. I didn’t hang out with Chris at all to that point, then I overheard him talking about going to the show, I spun around in my desk and said I was going too. We started talking about music and he offered for me to go with them to the show. I had my crew set but we were already making plans for future concerts. I told me to show up early but with over 30k, no way was I finding him. The show started, Judas Priest made the album cover come to life on stage, They open with Love bites, the explosions went off, lasers shot out the eyes an my mind exploded. Half way through the show, I went to use the restroom and grab a beer. I was 15 and knew how to live, grabbed a t-shirt as well and was walking back to my seat when I ran into Chris, they were all freaking out because I could buy beer, they asked me how I did it and I replied “JUDAS PRIEST” I point over to the vendor and said I got to get back to the show. Now I knew where they were sitting and we all had a blast. After the show, I saw them briefly and tried to scream Judas Priest but my voice was totally gone. That Monday at School, I walked into class, everyone had some sort of priest / metal t-shirts. Chris and the crew yelled out BRAD – I yelled back PRIEST. Chris & I didn’t stop talking until May 31st 2020. I miss my friend. I was completely devastated & still am. Took me a few days before I could go back to work, When I got in my car, Iron Maiden (2 minutes to midnight) was playing which was one of the last concerts we went to, I started talking to him how I’m sure he is getting a kick out making me cry, I then said, What’s a matter Chris? No Judas Priest?? The next song was the Hellion / Electric Eye. First lyric is, “I’m up here in space, looking down at you”. I pulled over and lost it. I figured my best bud want to hear this so I asked some friends and here it is
