Rabidfest 2024: 4th and Final Wave of Bands announced!
…with the power of a raging tsunami and a tidal wave of an accompaniment, the organisers of Oxfords biggest Metal Weekender Rabidfest have gone six for six. That’s right, they’ve added a colossal six bands to give us their final line up announcement for the 2024 sixth incarnation of the annual Festival! Taking place at The Bullingdon in the heart of Oxford over the weekend of 2nd & 3rd November there will be no less than 20 bands gracing the Devolution Magazine sponsored main stage as for the second year in a row monies will be raised for the Sophie Lancaster Foundation! Here’s the line up in full:
Evile (Saturday Headliner)
Viscera (Sunday Headliner)
Cloven Hoof
Fury
Recall The Remains
Voidwalker
From Her Ashes
Imperium
Eschalon
Draconian Reign
Existentialist
Damaged Reich
As The World Dies
Rats Eat Rats
Forlorn
Ocean Planet
40000 Leagues
Theorist
Dead Man’s Pistol
Halfway Home
So who are these new additions? First up are Folk Horror Black Metal act Forlorn who have stunned us live on numerous occasions including at last year’s Techabilitation event from Tech-Fest. New single “Creatress” is so impressive that the band will claim main support for Viscera on Sunday 3rd November.
Also playing the Devolution Magazine sponsored main stage on Sunday will be Reading emerge Technical Progressive Metalcore outfit, Ocean Planet who may or may not be named after the Gojira classic. Their EP “Immersion” has been a regular spin in these parts.
Hailing from Manchester, 40000 Leagues will bring their brand of anthemic, 2003 era American Metalcore to the stage on Saturday 2nd November. 2017 saw their debut album “A New Beginning” drop but it’s 2023 single “Reflections” that has arguably earned them this opportunity.
South Coast Progressive Metallers Theorist will bring a wealth of Technical riffs and hard hitting vocals to Oxford as they scream for blood, sweat and spilled beers in the mosh pit. They’ll get it too with last year’s half an hour of power “Perception” the antidote to all ills…
Landlocked Winchester might be an odd place for a band who sound like the name of the next Pirate film to feature Johnny Depp but it is the place Dead Man’s Pistol call home. Infectiously groovy, their brand of energetic Hard Rock will make for an intriguing proposition on Saturday 2nd November.
Last but by no means least are Halfway Home. They’re working their way through the seasons with sophomore EP “Winter” set to follow “Autumn” and a run in this year’s Metal 2 The Masses competition introduced their Post-Hardcore sound to the Oxford hordes at the Jericho Tavern.
We’re proud to be a Media Partner of Rabidfest again this year alongside Red Death Media, Moomin Merchandise, Metalplanetmusic, Moshville Times, GraphicsFix, TwoFace Promotions, Blackstar Amplification, DC Sound Attack and main stage sponsor Devolution Magazine. The Festival is all for charity and next year the profits will be going to the The Sophie Lancaster Foundation!
