Someone’s father once said “S*** happens. It’s how you deal with it that shows what kind of person you are” and so rather than crying into their beers as A Night In The Abyss abandoned the ship Mercury’s Well have pulled a rabbit out of the hat. In their place they’ve got US Deathcore giants Snake Father to play this summer’s incarnation of Summer Bash! Oh wait… No… we’ve made a mistake. Scratch that. They’ve got Welsh Death Metal heavy hitters Plague Father!
So who the f*** are Plague Father and why should you pay the admission fee to witness them? Formed in 2015 the four piece unleashed half an hour of power soaked in themes of apocalypse and environmental destruction with their debut EP “Misery Ritual“. Combining influences from Behemoth, Gojira and Cattle Decapitation that record offers up a niche blend which could loosely be described as Progressive Blackened Death Metal with moments of of Deathcore and Grindcore. That record was largely the work of the writing partnership between vocalist Jon Foreman and multi instrumentalist Gwynne Taylor with single “Alleviate” arguably it’s finest moment. Since then the band have gone through a myriad of line up changes which have cursed them but May 2024 saw the arrival of new single “Negation” with returning drummer Cauley Lewis and former Sodomized Cadaver guitarist Jordan Roberts on board.
We are a proud Media Partner of Summer Bash for the second year in a row! Fancy a ticket? Get them here.
