The Black Map #285: Masquerader (Summer Bash 666 Hell In Hawaii Edition)!

For one last time we have the opportunity to tell you why you don’t want to sleep on this year’s Summer Bash dubbed Hell in Hawaii hosted by Progressive Death Metal Kings Mercury’s Well. So let’s break it down to brass tacs and rusty nails, once more with feeling. No less than 10 bands from the United Kingdom Underground scene offering a variety of flavours and textures of Metal will be playing the Facebar in Reading on Saturday 13th July. A Hawaiian beach party with shirts, flower necklaces and inflatables alongside wall to wall riffs, skull battering percussion and groove laden bass, it’s the hottest ticket in town. Here’s line up in full:

Wallowing (headliner)
Plague Father
Mercury’s Well
Them Bloody Kids
Maziac
Masquerader
El Chapo
Slug13
Kardinal X
Chaos Theory

Having spent the last few years in the gravitational pull of the London commuter belt destroying venues with their high energy live show Masquerader will be making a welcome return for a home town throwdown at Summer Bash this year. Back in February the trio who gave us EP “Nothing Will Ever Change” last year shared footage of themselves in the studio on social media, opening up thr possibility of new material in their set on 13th July. One of many highlights at last years event, the band bring together a myriad of influences to create alchemy with a Post Hardcore infused Math Rock sound filtered through electronics. Cutting out the guitars completely, their stripped back approach doesn’t compromise on style or substance as they deliver a collection of hard hitting anthems for a disgruntled generation. If you can get your head around what Pitchshifter, early Fever 333 and Glassjaw combined would sound like then you’ve reached the tip of the iceberg but don’t let our explanations confuse you. Go check out “Pressure” or “Paper Thin” and get hooked on their DIY or DIE mentality…

We are a proud Media Partner of Summer Bash for the second year in a row! Fancy a ticket? Get them here.
