Rabidfest 2024: Breaking Down The Bands #19: Rats Eat Rats!
Believe it or not, at the time of writing there are just 59 days until Christmas. That means, with Halloween just around the corner, there are just 7 days until this years sixth incarnation of Rabidfest takes place at The Bullingdon over the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd November. 20 bands, 2 days, 1 stage and 0 clashes means you’re going to get the opportunity to witness some of the finest bands on the UK Underground Metal scene while sipping (or chugging) a beverage of choice. A safe haven from the unrelenting rain, pure escapism from the 9-5 grind is found with wall to wall riffs, pulverising percussive battery, rumbling bass and the cathartic screams of vocalists who for the most part do demonic impressions. Sounds freakin’ awesome right? Here’s the line up in full…
Saturday 2nd November:
Evile (Headliner)
Cloven Hoof
Fury
Damaged Reich
Eschalon
Existentialist
Imperium
40000 Leagues
Dead Man’s Pistol
Rats Eat Rats
Sunday 3rd November:
Viscera (Headliner)
Forlorn
Ocean Planet
Recall The Remains
Voidwalker
Draconian Reign
As The World Dies
From Her Ashes
Theorist
Halfway Home
…and if you fancy the pre-show, you can witness Seething Akira, Crostpaths, The Crushing and Eliminate The Middle Class at “The Night Before Rabidfest” warm up at The Jericho Tavern in Oxford on Friday 1st November!
If like us, you’re the kind of person who heads to a show early so you can check out the support bands in the hope of finding a hidden gem or the next big thing, then you’re going to want to witness this years opening act at Rabidfest. The metaphorical red tape will be cut by none other than Rats Eat Rats, a band who describe themselves as creators of aggressive, melodic and nostalgic modern Heavy Rock. While that might sound like an oxymoron of opposites, in actuality they are the formulation of their genes and influences. If you want to know what their version of events sounds like, you don’t need to wait for Rabidfest. If you consult your favourite streaming service like the genie in Aladdin’s lap, you’ll find an EP titled “For When We All Turn Feral” that was released at the end of September. A trio of fresh cuts to follow fan favourites like “Typical” and “De_generate” from a band whose logo looks like a cave painting depicting a bank robbers face mask in a time when banks and robbers didn’t exist…
We’re proud to be a Media Partner of Rabidfest again this year alongside Red Death Media, Moomin Merchandise, Metalplanetmusic, Moshville Times, GraphicsFix, TwoFace Promotions, Blackstar Amplification, DC Sound Attack and main stage sponsor Devolution Magazine. The Festival is all for charity and next year the profits will be going to the The Sophie Lancaster Foundation!
Rabidfest will take place at The Bullingdon in Oxford over the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd November 2024:
