Listmania: Metal Noise Top #5 Singles of 2024!

2024. Elections, Reunions, Anniversaries, Farewells, Births, Marriages and Deaths. The Metal World has has it all over the past twelve months. No one saw the “Celebrating Life Through Death” 40th anniversary world tour from Sepultura being their last run. No one thought that Kerry King would ditch his solo project King to bring back Slayer. No one thought that half of Pantera would return to the stage to play the old songs and celebrate the legacy. But it sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction and it all happened. But we digress. What we’re really here to talk about is the top #5 Underground Metal singles of 2024. So without further much ado about nothing let’s get into it…

In no particular order, we’re going to start with “Bad Blood” by London Metallic Hardcore homewreckers Negative Frame. Full on tune with a full on music video to accompany it in which they get covered in fake blood. What more could you possibly want? It’s like a scene from Reservoir Dogs!

Sticking with the graffiti on concrete but this time at a Skate Park, we have “Walk With Tha Talk” from Yorkshire four piece Street Soldier. Influenced by “Punishment” era Biohazard this punchy cut finds the band adding turntable action and death growls to their sound.

Midlands Cinematic DJent pioneers Vanitas are an incredible band and at the end of 2023 they expanded their sound with Jade Maris adding unclean vocals to her already impressive range. A year later they got the balance perfect with “Wait & See” an epic anthem, exploring the duality of excitement and anxiety of trusting an unknown future.

A year after they gave us “Burn Beyond The Grave” Progressive Metal maestros Arcaeon and toured the length and breath of the United Kingdom, they returned in 2024 with a new single in “Celestial” that offers an insight into what their sophomore album will be like. On this evidence it’s going to be a scorcher.

If like us you’d spent the past few years wondering just when Ian Bearer would resurface after his departure from Rings Of Saturn, then October gave you the moment you’d been waiting for. He signed on the dotted line with Canadian skull crushing Deathcore collective Angelmaker and gave us the beast that is “Relinquished“.

Honourable mentions? There are too many to mention! But there are plenty of further categories in this years Listmania Awards Season. Afterall we don’t call it a season for nothing!
