Spotlight: 5 Possibilities for Summer Bash 7 from Mercury’s Well!

Well… Well… Well… Three holes in the ground. Each one created in a search for a fresh water spring in a tropical paradise where the palm trees sway gently in the occasional cool breeze. Add some boozy fruit punch, sizzling BBQ treats and timpani drum sounds and you’ve got yourself a beach party. Those are the kind of good vibrations that Progressive Death Metal purveyors Mercury’s Well create at The Facebar in Reading every year with Summer Bash. This year’s seventh incarnation of the one day event has been announced for 26th July but aside from the band themselves, who else is going to be taking to the stage? The unruly trio have kept their cards close to their chest on that score so here are a few distinct possibilities to keep you warm this winter…

Let’s start by talking about a potential headliner in Tribe Of Ghosts. They played the event a few years ago before heading to Bloodstock Open Air Festival and have since released their full length debut album “City“, which is an absolute peach. They could even throw in a surprise bonus set from vocalist and guitarist Adam Sedgwick’s Industrial Metal side project Noiseboy for s***s and giggles.

Another band with a debut album on the way are Pagan Folk Black Metal outfit Forlorn. Renowned for a captivating and enthralling live show they are yet to announce a headline tour for “Aether” so why not incorporate a stop at Summer Bash as part of that? They have of course previously played the venue as part of Reading Rising and went down a storm.

Before it got pulled into a black hole never to be seen again, The Facebar was the venue that hosted and event called Facebarmaggedon. Canadian Alternative Metal act Sumo Cyco added an extra night to a previously announced tour run in order to play the event. It never happened due to the promotor pulling the plug, so how about a triumphant return for the fun loving criminals to slay a few demons… or should we say move a few mountains?

Having witnessed them at The Castle Tap in Reading not so long ago, the Grunge style vocals over Groove laden Metal riffs that Liquid Dogs offer make them a fine time and potential afternoon performers. They won’t mind if you treat a friend to a cocktail or two during their set and it would of course be a home town show for the four piece.

Last but by no means least it has to be Eschalon. A band who include in their ranks Tech-Fest founder Simon Garrod on guitars and Sick Set Media’s Max McKinnon as one half of a vocal duo, they’ve been playing every Diner, Drive-In and Dive that the United Kingdom have to offer since putting themselves on the map with a collection of waterfall released singles. The Cambridge quintet haven’t played Reading as yet so is there a better event than Summer Bash to break that duck?

We’re proud to announce that Metal Noise dot Net is once again the Media Partner for Summer Bash this year! In celebration of that, we’ve teamed up with Mercury’s Well to make you a special offer.
