Vs Tuesday: Two Bands! One Song! Who Wins? FIGHT! Rise.

Mass prediction, unification breathing life into out lungs, Every creed and every kind to give us depth for strength, Taught when we’re young to hate one another, It’s time to have a new reign of power, Make pride universal so no one gives in, Turn our backs on those who oppose, Then when confronted we ask them the question, What’s wrong with their mind? What’s wrong with your mind? It’s time to Rise, Rise, Rise, It’s time to Rise

Of all the classic anthems that Texas Groove Metal legends Pantera gave us, “Rise” is arguably the most criminally underrated, if for no other reason than it sits in the centre of an all time classic album. That would be 1992’s undisputed heavyweight champion “Vulgar Display Of Power“, the first half of which has been covered to death by everyone and anyone in the Metal scene on a global level. Those first three cuts alone in “Mouth For War“, “A New Level” and “Walk” are enough to sink a battleship… and let’s not talk about that God awful Rihanna movie.

So to our head to head. In the Red Corner we have Volumes who pulled their rendition out of the bag as a total surprise. It’s not even close to a song that you might have credited the DJentlemen with covering prior to its arrival and yet they hit it out of the park and left Fearless Records happy to have them on board. In the Blue Corner we could have had This Is Hell but the version which appeared on the 2000 compilation “Southern Death: A Tribute to Pantera” from Tennessee based Thrashers  Disarray has a little more spice to it. They hammered out no less than 6 albums between 1993 and 2007 with “A Lesson In Respect” being prime real estate. Who wins? You decide!
