Rabidfest 2025: Breaking Down The Bands #16: Until 9!

At the time of publication there will be just thirty eight days until this years incarnation of Oxfords finest Metal Weekender (trademark, patent applied for) otherwise known as Rabidfest. If you missed their social media build up, the warm up show and even our weekly features then lets remind you what its all about. Raising money for the Sophie Lancaster Foundation, the annual event will see no less than twenty bands appear on the Devolution Magazine sponsored main stage at The Bullingdon over the weekend of the 1st and 2nd November. Mosh pits, beer and some of the finest up and coming Metal bands this green and pleasant land has to offer will be inside the venue! So don’t delay, treat you and yours to a ticket and join the party!

So who the f*** are Until 9 and why are they worth the admission fee at the venue gates we hear you cry? Fear not, for we have the answers! Hailing from the steel city that is Sheffield, Until 9 are a Metal outfit that was formed in 2020 by a trio of musicians who had regularly crossed paths with each other as part of other projects. 2022 saw them unleash their debut EP “Look At Me Now” with single “Headstone” surpassing 32k of Spotify streams in the process, their high energy output and Nu-Metal overtones catching the ear as much as the maelstrom of riffs. In 2023 they offered up a second installment of cryptic writings in EP “Dyadic” which brought with it their biggest success to date, single “Do You Feel Alive?” reaching the better part of 35k of Spotify streams alone. Incidentally they had a little studio time left over at the end of the sessions for the EP and took full advantage, committing a rendition of the System Of A Down classic “Suite-Pee” to tape.

When they weren’t riding motorcycles around Spain or Portugal Until 9 were on stage, earning the right to play festivals like Call Of The Wild in 2024 and Hammerdown Festival in 2025 and sharing stages with the likes of The Raven Age, Raised By Owls and Exist Immortal. Their reputation for putting bounce in the mosh pit with thunderous percussion, diverse vocal performances and 90’s influenced guitars preceding them. In August the three piece spent a week at Axis Recording Studio (Black Spiders, Circle Of Origin, She Burns Red) laying down some tracks for a new album, which begs the question: will be get the opportunity to hear something new or just something borrowed and something blue come Rabidfest in November?
