Riff Police! Pull Over! #42: Underside Vs Avenged Sevenfold!

Avenged Sevenfold lifting *ahem* being influenced by Metallica is pretty common knowledge. Why? Because it’s so blatantly obvious! To be fair, they’ve got a wealth of decent material of their own and they created a decent song around that Metallica riff. “Unholy Confessions” is a fans favourite and has all the trademarks of the classic Metalcore sound.

Nepalese Metalcore crew Underside released “Satan In Your Stereo” last year, an album Mixed and Mastered by former SikTh vocalist Justin Hill. Track “Make Believe” is one of the albums finer cuts and got the Metal World’s attention. But… There is something familiar about it… If you haven’t guessed it, it contains that classic chord progression on the bridge that is the hook of “Unholy Confessions”.
