Throwback: “Smile” by Taproot!

Last week Kerrang Magazine published an interesting article on “The 13 Most Nu-Metal Moments Of All Time“. It’s a decent read and something of a nostalgia trip down the yellow brick road otherwise known as memory lane with as you’d expect mentions of KoRn and Limp Bizkit but also a resurgent Evanescence and of course Linkin Park. One thing they missed out was the infamous answerphone message left by Fred Durst on the answering machine of Taproot. It’s a voice mail that will go down in history as a moment of madness as a p***ed off Durst let’s the band know his feelings in a controlled rant about biting the hand that feeds. Ironically it did Taproot a huge favour as it put the spotlight on a up and coming band and got people talking about their Deftones inspired debut album “Gift”. You can read the article in full here. From the album “Gift”, here’s arguably their finest moment in “Smile”.
