Vs Tuesday: Two Bands! One Song! Who Wins?! FIGHT! Dig!
What are the chances of Mudvayne reuniting and returning to the stage in 2020 with August marking the 20th Anniversary of their seminal debut album “L.D. 50”? When you have the now Hellyeah frontman Chad Gray making comments like these anything is possible. Especially when his guitarist and former Nothingface man Tom Maxwell says that he doesn’t know if Hellyeah will make another album, which you can read about here, it seems likely that they will at least take a break. Hellyeah have finished their upcoming new offering “Welcome Home” as a tribute to Vinnie Paul, the much loved former Pantera drummer who graced their music before his passing. There will no doubt be Global tours with Stone Sour drummer Roy Mayorga, also formerly in Soulfly and Medication, tapped up to fill in but whether they want to continue after seems open for debate. So in the spirit of Math Metal and early DJent, here’s a pair of covers of the Mudvayne classic “Dig” going head to head for you to sink your teeth into!
First up to the plate we have Downtempo Melodic Deathcore Huston Texanites Feign who are joined by Anthony Alexander of Rex for their cut of the polyrhythmic Tech-Metal infused track. They released their debut full length “The New World Order” back in 2015 and are currently working on new material.
Their challenger comes in the form of Multi-instrumentalist, Engineer and Producer Sammy SlamDance. He plays bass and guitars, produces and handles vocals on his take while being joined by drummer KC Brand of The Odious Construct for their leap into face paint mythology. Sammy SlamDance has an album of Deathcore Rap Covers with a million guest appearances cooking up nicely. So who wins? You decide!
