Vs Tuesday: Two Bands! One Song! Who Wins? FIGHT! Marilyn Manson!

A song by Marilyn Manson also remixed by the then Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison which appears on bands fourth studio album “Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death)” in the year 2000, “Fight Song” is the subject of today’s cover clash! As albums go, it’s a scathing attack on the media and mainstream culture as following the Columbine High School shootings it was discovered the bands t-shirts were worn by the armed Children. That triggered the suggestion that Manson had somehow subliminally suggested or influenced the attack in some way. Far from taking the accusations lightly, after a period of thought, he came back with what some may consider the bands finest material. “Fight Song” itself is a pun on high school and college football team anthems known as “Fight Songs” while the video depicts the band playing the song during a violent American Football game of Goths Vs Jocks.

In the Red Corner we have Scottish Metallers Bleed From Within who covered the song for their 2014 crowdfunded EP “Death Walk” as the band continued to transcend from a Deathcore oriented sound to a punchy blend of Groove Metal, Melodic Death Metal and Metalcore with hints of DJent influences. In the Blue Corner we have EVA who covered the song on their EP “Pronounced E-V-A” in 2012. The Chicago, Illinois group known for their blend of Hardcore Punk and Rock n’ Roll share a number of the same influences as Manson. So who wins? You decide!
