Vs Tuesday: Two Bands! One Song! Who Wins?! FIGHT! Alice In Chains.

Last month marked the 30th Anniversary of Seattle Washington Grunge Kings Alice In Chains iconic debut album “Facelift“. It’s one of those records which didn’t have the instant success it deserved as Grunge was a very new sound at that time and the band were yet to find where they sat at the table, touring with everyone from Iggy Pop to Van Halen and from Anthrax to Slayer before MTV’s heavy rotation of single “Man in the Box” gave it a much needed push and the rest is history. So to today’s head to head and a song that guitarist Jerry Cantrell inked after “riding the bus to rehearsal and [seeing] all these 9, 10, 11 year old kids with beepers dealing drugs. The sight of a 10 year old kid with a beeper and a cell phone dealing drugs equaled “We Die Young” to me” as he so put it.

In the Red corner, we have Alborn, a band who started off as just a covers project and evolved over three years to working with Sevendust drummer Morgan Rose on their debut EP  “Impairative” which includes their version of the track. In the Blue corner we have Cane Hill, a band who are undoubtedly also influenced by Alice In Chains and whose vocalist Elijah Witt is capable of delivering some distinctive Layne Staley esq moments. They did their version of the track for Metal Hammer’s Anniversary compilation “Decades Of Destruction” in 2016. Who wins? You decide!
