The Black Map #257: Tribe Of Ghosts from Brighton! (Summer Bash V Edition)
For the past nine weeks we’ve spent our Sundays trying to convince you discerning reader, as to why you should part with your hard earned cash and get yourself a ticket for Summer Bash V at Facebar in Reading on Saturday 22nd July… and we’re not about to stop. Aside from the eleven bands themselves, the Hawaiian themed beach party, the atmosphere and the cold drinks served on a hot day by some wonderful people, there is also the opportunity to line your pockets with merch, fill your phone book with the numbers of people you met and dance the night away. What more could you possibly want for £10? Cake? We’re sure that someone can find some just for you. The bands playing the hottest event of the year hosted by Reading Progressive Death Metal Kings Mercury’s Well are as follows…
Tape It Shut
One Last Day
Black Emerald
Hundred Year Old Man
Tribe Of Ghosts
Mercury’s Well
Treehouse
Perp Walk
Masquerader
Buds
Pteroglyph
Whoa. Before you say “you’ve done an exposé on Tribe Of Ghosts before, you can’t do another one, can you?” the answer is yes we bloody well can. Watch us. There are no rules that say you can’t write about a band over and over again until people get the message that actually, they’re pretty damn cool.
So who the f*** are Tribe Of Ghosts and why should they be a reason to invite your friends, family and the homeless dude from down the street to Summer Bash? Well… The roots of the band go back as far as 2016 but they cite the beginning of 2022 as a moment of rebirth, when everything clicked into place and their artistic vision came to fruition. The sound they create has been described as Industrial tinged Post-Metal with the combination of haunting electronic soundscapes with eclectic Extreme Metal influences and pop vocals inspired by classic dystopian tales like “1984″. But honestly, if it sounds good, just listen to it and don’t worry too much about the genre tag. Their most recent burnt offering “Sunburner” saw Ben Mason of Bound In Fear and Pintglass fame lend his throat so if a Slamming Deathcore warrior can get involved then it must be worth a listen, right?
