The Black Map #263: Waterlines from The North! (Reading Rising IV Edition)

18th November will see twelve bands and hundreds of fans decent upon The Facebar in Reading for Reading Rising IV, a one day festival like no other. A warm and friendly atmosphere, a collection of hilariously titled cocktails and a sweaty mosh pit are all on offer, as is shelter from the rain, a collection of razor sharp riffs, heavy breakdowns and a plethora of anthemic sing-a-long choruses. What more could you possibly want? Tell your mother, tour sister and your neighbours but probably leave your old flames on ice. Here’s the line up so far…

Our Hollow Our Home
Confessions Of A Traitor
Waterlines
InAir
Crushed By Waves
Nervendings

And there are six more to go!

You’ve read the undercard so it’s now time for the main event. Just who are Waterlines? After the departure of vocalist Lizzie Parry and Dan “Hendo” Henderson from Progressive Metalcore favourites Sertraline, Benji Mars was recruited to continue the dream for guitarists Tom Wilson and Mike Hawkings alongside drummer Si Douglas. However after some time in the rehearsal space, it became clear that a new sound and direction was on the horizon and so they changed their name, freeing themselves from the shackles of their legacy. “The Horns Around The Halo” appeared as a first single in November, blending Nu-Metalcore with EDM, the first of four to appear on their August releasing EP “Anti Human”. That has chalked up 21k of Spotify streams alone as the band have demonstrated their live prowess up and down the country, appearing at Bloodstock Open Air Festival this summer. So if you missed them there or saw them and want to relive the occasion, a skull battering awaits at Reading Rising IV from four musicians who describe themselves as “dirt bags from The North“.

We’re proud to be a Media Partner of Reading Rising IV. If you want a ticket for this year’s incarnation you can find them here.
