Rabidfest 2023: Breaking Down The Bands #23: Reveller!
There are just 11 days to go until the biggest Metal Weekender that Oxford has to offer takes place on 4th and 5th November at The Bullingdon, so if you’re in need of one final reason to get a ticket, you’ve come to the right place! Rabidfest will see 20 bands take to the Devolution Magazine sponsored main stage across two days of sweaty mosh pits, alcohol fuelled sing-a-longs and wall to wall riffs with all the profits going to the The Sophie Lancaster Foundation! We’ve spent the last few months breaking down the bands who are going to be playing the event and last but no means least, we have to take about Reveller. Before we get to that, here’s a reminder of the line up in full…
Bound In Fear (headliner)
Blaze Bayley (headliner)
Absolva
Ward XVI
Mortishead
Tribe Of Ghosts
Gutlocker
Imperium
From Her Ashes
Draconian Reign
Shoot To Kill

Sworn Amongst
In time honoured fashion you may ask “who the f*** are Reveller?“. Finalists in this years Metal 2 the Masses in Oxford where they shared the stage with winners Shoot To Kill, Stone Soup, Indecorum and Red Method, they’re a band who have been resurrected with a new line up to start afresh. Their second bite of the cherry officially began in December 2021 with a new line up taking shape after their original run from 2014 to 2017 which spawned single “Drown“. Since their return they have taken their time to bed in a new line up and work on new material, churning out an unholy trinity of singles in the past 8 months in “Fallen Ascent“, “Never Forget” and “Lifeline” and while they cite influences in Bring Me The Horizon, Asking Alexandria and Coheed and Cambria, they sound like a different animal. Sitting on the bridge between Hard Rock and Heavy Metal they boast bold clean vocals in Traditional Metal style (although there are some impressive unclean backing vocalist on “Never Forget“) with big riffs and pounding percussion. So you might find yourself torn between banging your head and raising a poison chalice before singing-a-long when they play Rabidfest, you just have to dance with the devil and see what happens…
We’re proud to be a Media Partner of Rabidfest again this year alongside Red Death Media, Moomin Merchandise, Metalplanetmusic, Moshville Times, GraphicsFix, Unearthed Music and main stage sponsor Devolution Magazine. The Festival is all for charity and this year the profits will be going to the The Sophie Lancaster Foundation!
