The Black Map #269: Elucidate from Reading! (Reading Rising IV Edition)

We’re so excited to have been invited to this year’s Reading Rising!!! We’re sharing the stage with some INSANE artists who’ve inspired us since we started making music together so this is gonna be a real special one! Its our last one of the year so come along and tear it up with us!” ~ Elucidate

Telling it like it is, earlier this week Reading based Alternative Rock quartet Elucidate announced that they would be gracing The Facebar in Reading for the fourth edition of Reading Rising. That will take place on Saturday 18th November and see 12 bands spread over 2 stages with 0 clashes, leaving just one question. Which stage will they grace? If that’s not enough opportunity to dance the day away then there will also be an after party DJ set from Our Fate guitarist Finn Panhaleux until 2am! Here’s the line up in full…

Our Hollow Our Home (headliner)
Confessions Of A Traitor (headliner)
Waterlines
NervEndings
InAir
Crushed By Waves
Veridian
Our Fate
Weller
The Freudian Session
Adharma
Elucidate

…now before you say “another Alternative Rock act from Reading?!” let’s just take a moment and use a defibrillator to reset things. The only reason that Elucidate are described as Alternative Rock is because of Humanities endless requirement to categorise everything. The band themselves have so much more to their sound that it’s insane and so to pigeon hole them feels like a crime. The four piece are a formulation of their genes and their influences and that leaves them an eclectic and perhaps even a little eccentric in creating songs that combine elements of Rock, Metal, Grunge, EDM, Shoegaze and even Fusion Jazz to combine with vocalist Theo Bostock’s poetic lyrics. They don’t simply create music, they create art and if anything the sound of single “Take It” is reminiscent of the American Industrial Metal act Kidneythieves, the vocals echoing the tones of one Free Dominguez. So what’s in a genre tag?!
