Listmania: Metal Noise Top #5 Most Anticipated Releases of 2024!

Now that our teeth have rotted out from all the sugary Christmas treats we’ve consumed over the past week or so it’s time to turn to our most anticipated releases of 2024. Another incredibly hard fought category with albums and EPs already scheduled as far as May that we’re aware of, this one has been judged on a combination of prior convictions and pre-release singles while sipping a can of a famous energy drink…

Back in June Transcending Obscurity Records announced that they would be distributing an album from Australian Death Metal beasts Resin Tomb titled “Cerebral Purgatory” and not for one second did we think we’d have to wait until the 19th January 2024 for it! Formed in 2018 with members of Siberian Hell Sounds, Descent Snorlax in their ranks Resin Tomb pull influences from far and wide Dissonant Death Metal to Blackened Grind and have already burnt the village to the ground twice with a pair of well received EPs. So on the strength of those and the unholy trinity of pre-release singles, excitement is reaching fever pitch.

After the huge success of 2019’s “To Bathe From The Throat Of Cowardice” which took Portland Oregon natives Vitriol around the globe in 80 days like Phileas Fogg, the pressure is on for the the follow up. “Suffer & Become” will surface from the black depths of Death Metal depravity on 26th January with “Weaponize Loss” and “The Flowers Of Sadism” setting the tone in advance. The evolution of a sound rooted in influence from Morbid Angel and Hate Eternal moulded in the hands of mastermind Kyle Rasmussen for all to witness is not for the faint of heart.

From Death Metal to Deathcore and North Carolina natives The Stygian Complex, a band who have troubled our tiny minds since 2019’s self titled record and continued to bounce rocks off our skulls with regular EP releases since. Their debut album “Suffer With Me” is adorned by artwork from Cesar Eidrian and when it drops on 2nd February 2024 it looks set to shatter every window within a 30 mile radius. You know it’s going to be soaked in breakdowns galore with some serious heat from the vocals but having thus far restricted themselves to the shorter forms of destruction, it’s going to be interesting to see how this one plays out.

After three from the US we return to our green and pleasant land to talk about EP “What’s Your Damage?” from No Worth Of Man. It’s been a long hard road out of hell for the trio who first graced our ear drums with 2017’s “Initium Novum” and while they have played shows on a regular basis around that record, the gift of a new single in “Mondo Decay” was the last thing we expected in 2023. Assisted by Fredrick Nordstrom (Soilwork, Bring Me the Horizon, Dream Evil) that is set for 8th March and if it doesn’t go off like a hand grenade, well there is absolutely no justice in the World.

The rise of Lutharö over the past few years has been nothing short of phenomenal and their signing with the mighty Atomic Fire Records for the 15th March releasing “Chasing Euphoria” album is a testament to the hard work they have put in behind the scenes. The Canadians have been on our radar since 2020’s “Wings Of Agony” and in frontwoman Kristina Shipperbottom they have someone with an incredible vocal range. Three singles including the Mario Kart inspired “Born To Ride” have impressed while showing a sense of humour and so it very much looks like the World is going to become their Oyster…

Honourable mentions have to go to EP “Absence” from Groove Death specialists Bloodshot, EP “The Tragedy Of Being Human” from Hilltops Are For Dreamers, “Death: An Anthology” from Enterprise Earth, “Limitless” from Any Given Day and “Time” from Infected Rain all of which have thus far seen impressive singles appear that have tickled our cerebral cortexes…
