Rabidfest 2024: Breaking Down The Bands #6: From Her Ashes!
As the summer festival season draws to a close, the nights get longer, the temperature drops by 15 degrees and the rain starts lashing down, Oxfords biggest Metal Weekender gets closer. This year Rabidfest will take place over the 2nd and 3rd November, so by the time it comes around you’ll have exchanged your fancy frappe for a pumpkin spiced latte and have one eye on Christmas. Don’t deny it, you know we speak the truth. 2 days. 1 stage. 20 bands. 0 clashes. All the booze, blast beats and wall to wall riffs you can handle. What more could you possibly want? Here’s the line up in full…

What time is it? It’s Mean Time! For those not in the know, they’re a brewing company in Greenwich who make a mighty fine American Pale Ale called Prime. But this piece isn’t sponsored. Honestly. Anyway, we digress… the reason you’re here is the headline, so lets get on it. A band who have specialised in quality over quantity over their wonderful existence, From Her Ashes hail from Derby and have a pair of EPs in “Through The Darkest Of Days” and “In The Absence Of Light” floating around in cyberspace. We’ve had the pleasure of witnessing their intense performances on many an occasion alongside the likes of Sworn Amongst, Distant and Beyond Extinction and of course at Tech-Fest so when they say they blend “melody and brutality” and “write music that will tear you apart whilst cradling your head in comfort“, we can confirm that they speak the truth. In the studio they’ve worked with Ben Gaines (Heart In Hand, Violet) at Heroic Audio and Myroslav Borys (Confessions Of A Traitor, Last Hounds) at Jigsaw Audio, which should tell you they only work with the best and in 2022 unleashed their most recent single “Nemesis“. When that dropped there was talk of a debut album, so perhaps they might have something new for us when they join the other bands on the Devolution Magazine sponsored main stage? Only time will tell.
We’re proud to be a Media Partner of Rabidfest again this year alongside Red Death Media, Moomin Merchandise, Metalplanetmusic, Moshville Times, GraphicsFix, TwoFace Promotions, Blackstar Amplification, DC Sound Attack and main stage sponsor. Devolution Magazine. The Festival is all for charity and this year the profits will be going to the The Sophie Lancaster Foundation!
Rabidfest will take place at The Bullingdon in Oxford over the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd November 2024:
