As the World Dies came to be in 2018 as a five piece Progressive Death Metal band hailing from Birmingham with Memoriam guitarist Scott Fairfax as their mastermind. He is joined by fellow former Life Denied bandmate Chris McGrath on drums with vocalist Jay “Crikey” Price formerly of Victormonica on vocals. Rounding out the group are Bill Richmond of Pemphigoid fame on bass and the outfits newest recruit in Beg to Suffer and Wrath of Man guitarist Darren McGillivray. 2022 saw the outfit sign with Transcending Obscurity Records, the label home of Hell Is Other People, Monument Of Misanthropy and Resin Tomb to name but a few for their debut album “Agonist“. A well received record adorned by artwork from Indonesian artist Varises Otak (Amenorrhea, Cave Bastard, Unbowed), its 47 minutes of music that harks back to the golden era of Bolt Thrower. What does that mean? The old school brutality of Frozen Soul, the fragmented melodic ambience of Fallujah and the technicality of Obscura all designed to raise hell in the best way possible. A merciless assault on the senses the album has since been followed by a split with the aforementioned Memoriam that appears ahead of a currently in the works sophomore album. All of that means that come Sunday 3rd November, those inside The Bullingdon for Rabidfest could be witnessing new material. Prepare to be crushed!
