Rabidfest 2022: Breaking Down The Bands #9: Elimination!
Don’t adjust your phone settings. The announcement of the third wave of bands for this year’s incarnation of Rabidfest may have delayed this week’s feature by a day but it’s by no means a glitch in the Matrix. That being said, there are more than a few bands now on the bill who are perfectly capable or ripping a hole in the space time continuum with the power and energy they generate on stage and amongst the audience, which is the kind of tenuous link were known for as we talk about one of those new additions in the almighty Elimination!
Earlier this summer the disciples of Thrash unveiled their second single of 2022 in the barnstorming anthem that is “Icons Of Despair” to follow “Dyer’s Eve” with both cuts reinforcing the bands ability to create pure unadulterated devastation. That’s something they have spent the past 15 years doing, shattering any illusions of resting on their laurels with wave after wave of gigs, a holy trinity of albums and a pair of EPs that started with 2010’s “Destroyed by Creation“, an oxymoron of a title if we ever did hear one. Their latest magnum opus is 2021’s “Echoes Of The Abyss” which was very well received in the Underground Metal scene and features a guest vocal appearance from Aarran Tucker of Shrapnel fame. They say never judge a book by its cover and in the case of Elimination they’d be correct as while they have chosen cover artwork for their records that has Death Metal vibes, listening to the quartet’s work for any length of time confirms that they are influenced by “Master Of Puppets” era Metallica. The only real question is… did they take their name from an Overkill song?
