Throwback: “Naysayer” from Architects!
It seems surreal but a decade has passed since Brighton Progressive Metalcore heroes Architects gave us the almighty “Lost Together // Lost Forever“. The bands sixth album in all was produced by Henrik Udd (At The Gates, The Amity Affliction, In Flames), who approached them with the offer to do so when they played a show in Gothenburg. That partnership would later bear more fruit with the award winning follow up “All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us” as the band continued to write with themes of environmentalism, religious extremism and current affairs. Lyrics were a collaboration between vocalist Sam Carter and guitarist Tom Searle, a partnership that would serve them well as the band pushed their boundaries in all directions with a far more focussed offering. It’s also a record that is bitter sweet with “C.A.N.C.E.R” written by Tom Searle after he found out he had a melanoma growth on his leg, something that would ultimately lead to his premature death. So we’ve chosen “Naysayer” to celebrate a piece of history that is much loved.
