Summer Bash 2025: An Introduction to Hidden Mothers!

It’s an annual Hawaiian themed beach party with shirts, inflatables, flower necklaces…

What do you mean who the f*** are Hidden Mothers?! Well… they’re a Progressive Post-Hardcore band hailing from Sheffield who are signed to Church Road Records, the label home of Burner, Forlorn and Inhuman Nature to name but a few. Starting out as a five piece in 2019 the band were fronted by former Ba’al vocalist Steffan Benham and had brought to the Kings table a sound that blended Post-Black Metal, Post-Rock and Post Hardcore elements. 2020 saw the arrival of their well received self titled EP, a record which saw them wearing their collective hearts on their collective sleeves and give songs to Ripcord Records suicide awareness compilation “You Matter“, “40,000 Leagues Under the Sea: A Compilation for Sea Shepherd” and “Beneath, to the Earth” on For Ukraine, For Freedom. Benham would exit stage left in 2023, leaving bassist Liam Knowles, drummer Adam Kossowicz and guitarist duo Luke Scrivens and Arian Malekpour to continue as a quartet. As if to prove there is nothing like a bit of adversity to make you grow stronger, they recorded a critically acclaimed debut album “Erosion / Avulsion” in 2024 with the help of Joe Clayton (Wallowing, Leeched, Bossk) at No Studio in Manchester. A bruising, emotive listen that balances bleak darkness with crushing fury and gritty lyrical depth, it’s art in the truest sense of the word.
We’re proud confirm that Metal Noise dot Net is returning for a third consecutive year as the Media Partner for Summer Bash! Mercury’s Well will be hosting the seventh incarnation of their annual Hawaiian beach party themed event on 26th July 2025 at The Facebar in Reading.
