Listmania: Metal Noise Top #5 Most Anticipated Releases of 2021!
Having gone through the best singles, best albums, best EPs and most disappointing records of 2020 over the past few days, it’s time now to look forward to 2021 with our most anticipated releases of the first quarter of the year. You know, the ones that have us salivating as the prospect, like Wolves looking a Deer in the frozen Nordic forests. There is no doubt that some bands (like Mastodon for example) have held off releasing new material in 2020 with the inability to raise funds by touring around their creations immediately so there should be a great wealth of releases in the coming year that we simply don’t know about as yet. What we do know is that Arizona Death Metal Kings Job For A Cowboy have been working with Jason Suecof (Trivium, Born Of Osiris, The Black Dahlia Murder), but that’s a whole other story entirely…
…The as yet undated 2021 EP “Dark Water” from Canadian Metallers Juliet Ruin has to be the first on our list. They seriously impressed in 2019 with “Old Stardust, Love and Chaos” and having enjoyed some opening slots for big name international bands around it, they returned with the title track from the offering in November. It seems that frontwoman Jess Ruin has found new lows with her vocals based on this performance and the band will bring some Jinjer esq magic to us from those depths…
…22nd January will see Cheshire residents This Is Turin give us a new EP in “TURNIN” and having premiered a single in “Misery” which features a guest vocal appearance from Thy Art Is Murder frontman CJ McMahon to whet our collective appetite back in October it seems that the band are on the verge of a career defining moment. We had the pleasure of witnessing their full on Death Metal onslaught at Tech-Fest back in 2018 and this could well be a monster…
…fast forward to 12th February and Reading Progressive Tech-Metallers Arcaeon who will be finally letting us have their debut full length album “Cascadence” after perfectionism took it over their originally planned release date by 14 months. If something is worth doing, it’s worth doing right, right? They threw “Origin of Dreams” at us to celebrate the unveiling of their pre-order campaign and it has certainly got our hearts racing…
…a couple of weeks after that on 26th February Brighton Progressive Metalcore heroes Architects will return with “For All Those Who Wish To Exist” and having seen the performance of a clutch of new songs during their Albert Hall pay-per-view live stream as well as a couple of pre-release singles in “Animals” and “Black Lungs” it seems that they will be offering us something with even more weight and gravity than their usual offerings…
…which brings us to 12th March and the first new album from New Orleans EYEHATEGOD in “A History of Nomadic Behavior” for the better part of seven long years. They gave us “High Risk Tigger” with the announcement of that and with Singer Mike IX Williams recovery from ill health having has liver failure and a transplant, it seems that the band are ready to hit the road extensively once again as they did for a three year long stretch before that happened. We can’t wait!
