The Black Map #40: Black Tongue from Hull!

The Black Map of the UK Underground Metal Scene reaches week 40 as we head from Leeds to Hull and Downtempo Doom crew Black Tongue. The quartet call their style “Doomcore” and have previously been signed to Century Media though there are distinct elements of Black Metal, Death Metal, Deathcore and Doom in their crushingly heavy sound. Formed in 2013, the Hull City Hate Crew feature former Acrania and current Infant Annihilator guitarist Eddie Pickard alongside fellow Infant Annihilator member and current Mister Sister Fister drummer Aaron Kitcher. The line-up is rounded out by vocalist Alex Teyen and guitarist James Harrison. Third album “Nadir” was put out as a self-release earlier his year to critical acclaim and features a surprise Celtic Frost cover in “A Dying God Coming Into Human Flesh”. 

The band count among their fans Galactic Pegasus guitarist Andrew Baena and have been joined on previous albums by Matt Jones of Martyr Defiled on “Coma” and former All Shall Perish and current Suicide Silence frontman Eddie Hermida on “Vermintide”.
